Something in My Life Is Changing

REFLECTIONS ON CHANGE & LETTING GO

Some life transitions arrive because we choose them. Others show up before we’re ready.

A role ends. A relationship changes. Our bodies don’t do what they once did. Something we believed for years no longer feels quite as certain. Or we simply realize that the way we’ve been living doesn’t fit anymore.

I’ve experienced more than a few of those changes myself. These reflections aren’t about making change easy or telling you how to move through it. They’re simply some things I’ve noticed while learning to let one chapter end without needing to know exactly what the next one will look like.

Maybe one of them will meet you where you are today.

The Last Time

We rarely know when something we’re doing will be the last time. A changing relationship with running became a reminder for me that sadness and gratitude can occupy the same space when a season of life begins to end.

When Your Life Doesn't Follow a Straight Line

It’s easy to look at someone else’s life and wonder why ours has included so many turns, stops and starts. I’ve had plenty of them. I’m learning that a winding path isn’t necessarily evidence of a life poorly lived.

When the Old Way Stops Working

Sometimes the things that once helped us survive eventually begin costing us more than they’re giving us. Change can begin with something much smaller than a grand plan: admitting that the old way simply isn’t working anymore.

When Certainty Starts to Soften

We sometimes hold tightly to certainty because it makes life feel safer. But changing our minds, questioning an old belief, or outgrowing a former version of ourselves doesn’t necessarily mean something has gone wrong.

After the Finish Line

We spend so much time anticipating the big moments that it can be surprising when life simply becomes ordinary again afterward. The race ends. The project is finished. The milestone passes. And then comes the strange question: Now what?

More Things Seem to Qualify

Getting older has changed some of what I consider a good day. Things I once might have considered “doing nothing” have quietly become things I genuinely look forward to.

A Reflection Each Sunday

If these kinds of reflections speak to something you’re experiencing, I share a new one every Sunday. No answers to have figured out. Just an invitation to notice what life might be showing us.
